Women’s professional basketball team coming to Oshkosh

The Menominee Nation Arena will be home to a new women’s professional basketball team. Few details have been released to date, but here is what we do know:

1. The professional women’s hoops team will have a summer season

2. Arena owner Greg Pierce would not yet say what league the team would be playing in, but a likely possibility is the Women’s Basketball Development Association (WBDA). The league already has a nearby team in Milwaukee (Milwaukee Aces), and has been pursuing expansion with the recent transition from its former name, the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League.  This league also plays during the summer months.

3.  The Menominee Nation Arena and Fox Valley Pro Basketball are soliciting support for various team names over on their Facebook page.

4. And our prediction: Knowing Pierce and his team, this is most likely something that will all come together in the next month or so for a season already in 2019.

Additional announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
