Fox Valley Pro Basketball unveiled the name and logo for the new women’s professional basketball team, the Wisconsin GLO, today at a press conference. The team is owned by Fox Valley Pro Basketball and will call Menominee Nation Arena home.
The team will be part of the Global Women’s Basketball Association (GWBA). The Wisconsin GLO will play eight games at Menominee Nation Arena starting in early May.
“We are extremely excited to embark on this inaugural season of Professional Women’s Basketball in the Fox Valley and Wisconsin,” said Greg Pierce, Fox Valley Pro Basketball President.
He adds “It is our intention to build the best women’s basketball team that has ever been assembled in Wisconsin. Despite the relative infancy of the team and our league, we will aggressively pursue the goal of being the best women’s basketball team in the country shy of the WNBA. Our hope is to provide an inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere where our players can serve as strong, confident, disciplined role models for young girls who are often unable to see their athletic heroes up close. Our franchise can serve as an important piece in the advancement of women’s sports. We are committed to creating a first-class experience for our players while supporting the development of women’s basketball and women’s athletics as a whole.”
Local try-outs will take place April 20th from noon until 2:00 P.M. at the Menominee Nation Arena.
Season tickets will go on sale Friday, March 1 and start at $60.00.
