UWO Women’s Hoops: success and the showdown

Nationally-ranked UW Oshkosh Women’s Basketball hosts their biggest game of the season on February 13.

The UW Oshkosh Women’s Basketball Team sits in first place in the WIAC, with just two games to go. The #15th-ranked team in the nation has reached the 20-win mark for the season with an impressive 20-3 record.

With just two league games left, UWO is in position to claim the league outright title. Their season’s success places them as a likely candidate for the NCAA D-3 tourney.

UW-La Crosse sees things differently. The team also sits at 20-3, and is ranked #24 in the nation. They sit just a game behind UWO at 9-3 in conference, and have the chance to tie for the lead with a win over UWO.

The teams face off for their second meeting of the year on Wednesday, February 13 in Oshkosh. UWO claimed victory in their first meeting.

A win for UWO secures the conference regular season championship. A loss opens up the possibility of a shared title or win by UW Whitewater, who swept the Lady Titans in their two meetings.

The final two UWO regular season games are both at the Titan’s home court, scheduled for 2/13 and 2/16.

UWO is likely to earn a bye in round 1 of the WIAC conference tourney, which kicks off February 20.
