UW-Oshkosh men’s and women’s basketball teams advance in DIII tourney

The UW-Oshkosh Titan’s basketball program has entered March in dominant fashion with two strong victories in round 1 of the NCAA Division III basketball tournament.

The UW-Oshkosh Women’s team (25-3) is hosting rounds 1 and 2 for the weekend at Kolf, where they defeated Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) (22-5) by 26 points. The final score was UW-Oshkosh 72, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 46.

The Women’s team hosts #19 Depauw (25-4) on Saturday with a 7:00 P.M. tipoff.

UW-Oshkosh’s Ben Boots

The UW-Oshkosh Men’s team defeated Lake Forest College (18-9) 86-62. The Titans also play on Saturday, with a 7:00 P.M. game against Northwestern St-Paul (22-6) in Collegeville, MN, about 75 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

The Men’s team is the final Wisconsin team alive in the tournament. Wisconsin Lutheran joins the Titan Women as Wisconsin teams remaining in round 2.

Men’s senior guard Ben Boots was announced as one of 10 men’s finalists for the 2019 Jostens Trophy. The prestigious award is presented annually to the NCAA DIII men’s and women’s basketball most outstanding student-athletes of the year.

Boots was the 2019 WIAC player of the year, and sits second in all-time school assists with 387 career assists and is seventh in all-time scoring with 1,601 points.
