“Recycling Do’s and Don’ts”will be the topic of the Winnebago County League of Women Voters Food for Thought lunch on Wednesday, December 12. Presenters will be Kathryn Hutter, Winnebago County Recycling Program Manager and Christine Miller, Tri-County Recycling Outreach Specialist. Early recycling efforts began in the 1970s when landfills were developed. In 2002 Winnebago, Outagamie and Brown Counties joined forces and worked together to the point where they currently operate a Regional Single Stream Materials Recovery Facility in Appleton. Last year that facility handled a record 115,000 tons of recyclables. This presentation will highlight Winnebago County’s solid waste and recycling programs, the Ken Robl Conservation Park, the Tri-County Recycling Facility and where your recyclables go after they leave the curb. Come and learn about the changes that have been implemented in recent years and what plans are being made for the future.
The lunch is held at the Primo Restaurant, 2605 Jackson St. in Oshkosh. The program begins shortly after noon, so if you plan to have lunch please arrive by 11:50 a.m. to place your order. Interested members of the public are welcome to attend this program. No advance registration is necessary. Audience questions and discussion are encouraged.
