Pat Durkin to speak on “Politics and the Outdoors in Wisconsin”

Award winning outdoor writer and columnist, Patrick Durkin will speak about “Politics and the Outdoors in Wisconsin” on Thursday, October 26 as part of the Winnebago County League of Women Voters Soapbox Series.

Patrick Durkin is an award winning outdoor writer and Wisconsin outdoors newspaper columnist. His weekly column appears in 17 Wisconsin newspapers, including the Oshkosh Northwestern, Appleton Post-Crescent and Green Bay Press-Gazette. He edits and writes frequently for national archery and hunting magazines, including Inside Archery magazine. One need only read a few of his Saturday columns to understand that he combines his years of hunting, archery, fishing, and study of wildlife, water resources, habitat and environmental conditions with a keen understanding of the natural resource and environmental management needs in the State of Wisconsin. Non-hunters are hooked on his columns, one comes away with a deep appreciation for the various critters and natural resources in our state and what they need to remain healthy.

The event will be held at the Oshkosh Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel ballroom, 1 North Main St. The informal evening begins at 5:30 pm with a baked potato buffet and cash bar, followed by Durkin’s presentation at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend, but reservations are required. Tickets are $15 each, deadline is Sat. Oct. 21. Send check payable to LWV Winnebago County, 1202 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh WI 54901.
