Oshkosh Youth Symphony Fall Concert November 4


The Oshkosh Youth Symphony is  proud to present their Fall Masterworks Concert on Sunday, November 4 at 4:30 p.m. at  the Alberta Kimball Auditorium, 375 N. Eagle Street in Oshkosh.  

The 2018-19 concert season kicks off with a program spanning three musical periods, featuring works by Beethoven, Stravinsky, and Tchaikovsky. The program will open with the Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont, which Music Director Yukiko Grine has fond memories of performing when she was once a young violinist in the Oshkosh Youth Symphony Orchestra.  

Next on the program is Stravinsky’s moving and powerful Berceuse and Finale from his Firebird Suite, followed by the Tchaikovsky’s Marche Slave (Slavonic March), a dramatic piece to bring the concert to an exciting close.

The concert will begin with a performance by the Oshkosh Youth Symphony Philharmonia, conducted by Rachel Richards.  Next the new Youth Symphony Woodwind Quintet will perform under the direction of Mr. James Dorchner. The Percussion Ensemble will then take the stage for two pieces with Kennison Ther directing. The Youth Symphony Orchestra concluding the program.

Tickets for the November 4th performance are $5 each and doors open to the public at 4:00 p.m.  The concert is open to the general public.
