Oshkosh springs into Spring: our top picks


March 20 marked the start of spring around the world and this weekend marks the start of the spring activities happening in Oshkosh! Here are this week’s top picks from the Oshkosh Independent.

ONE. Start the season fresh and healthy with a visit to the Oshkosh Farmer’s Market! Although it’s still in the winter season, the weather will be warming up soon enough for the whole farmer’s market experience. In addition to local market goods, the farmer’s market also has live music. On March 25, see The Acoustikats perform live from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Event takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free admission. Farmer’s market located in the multi-purpose room in Merrill Middle School during the winter season. 108 W New York Ave.

TWO. The Backlot Comedy House hosts its weekly improv comedy night on Friday and Saturday! They know the improv game, but they don’t know the content. In this interactive improv night, the audience controls the comedy. You’ll only hear these jokes once so head on over for a night full of laughs! Event starts at 9 p.m. Event for ages 21 and older. 424 N Main St.

THREE. Come to the Reptile Palace on March 25 to celebrate the CD release of Attalla’s new album. A local Oshkosh doom-metal band, Atalla will be performing live with additional guests Droids Attack and Black Frost. Event starts at 10 p.m. 141 High Ave.

FOUR. Becket’s hosts its two-day long Jazz Market on March 24 and 25. Enjoy a weekend full of jazz, including a live performance from Janet Planet. Event starts at 8 p.m. 2 Jackson St.

FIVE. Come see Hysterical Productions: Romeo and Juliet at the Grand Opera House! A different twist from the classic Shakespeare play, see the tale of two star-crossed lovers unfold against all odds. Play is rated PG for adult themes and some violence. Tickets range from $15 to $18. Event goes from March 23 thru March 25. All performances start at 7:30. 100 High Ave.
