Special activities, programs, and assemblies planned to honor veterans

Veterans Day is a time to honor and thank all military personnel who served the United States. This Veterans Day, students, staff, and families throughout the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) will honor veterans through engaging and educational activities.

OASD schools will be holding special activities, programs, and assemblies to thank and honor all those who have served or are serving in the military. The OASD high school Veteran’s Day celebrations are detailed below. To learn more about the specific Veterans Day activities planned at an OASD elementary, middle, or high school, please contact the school’s front office.

Oshkosh West High School Veterans Day Celebration
Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Oshkosh West High School (375 N Eagle Street)

Oshkosh West High School will be honoring veterans during a Veterans Day ceremony, open to the public, on Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Oshkosh West High School. The ceremony will feature the Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall, and a brief wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.

The entire Oshkosh community is invited to join Oshkosh West in celebrating and recognizing those in our community who sacrificed all or part of their lives for our great country, state, and community. The ceremony will offer a time to pay tribute to those in the Honor Hall and other veterans in our community, reconnect with old acquaintances and friends, and socialize over a cup of coffee or snacks.

The Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall was established in 2017 and continues to grow, currently listing over 2,680 heroes who graduated from or attended Oshkosh High or Oshkosh West High School.

The Veterans Day celebration will also serve as the official ribbon cutting of the Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall kiosk. The kiosk allows visitors to search veterans in the Honor Hall and view photos, documents, and news articles that have been submitted or found in archives. The kiosk has been sponsored by many generous businesses in Oshkosh; platinum sponsors include PACUR LLC, Schiek Sports, Players Pizza, and Children’s Dental Center.
