The sixth annual Oshkosh Chili Cook-Off is Saturday, October 14, at Opera House Square in downtown Oshkosh. This event is sponsored by the Oshkosh Rotary Club and net proceeds will once again be donated to the Day by Day Warming Shelter. Gates open at 11 a.m. with chili tasting beginning at 1 p.m.
The admission is free this year and cups will be available to purchase for the chili tasting ($10 for 12 cups). Judging begins at 1 p.m. with winners to be announced at 2 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by authentic salsa sand Salsa Manzana. Family activities will be available including yard games and Bubble Bump.
The Oshkosh Rotary Club also will host the beverage tent serving hot apple cider, water, soda and beer.
There will be up to 30 different chilies to sample along with salsa and pico de gallo at each booth.

Awards will be presented in three categories: Traditional, Specialty and Team Spirit, with first place receiving $100, second place $50 and third place will receive free registration for next year’s contest.
Festival-goers will vote for their favorite chili with the winner of the People’s Choice Award receiving free registration in next year’s contest. Bring your appetite and your family and enjoy your fill of chili as we welcome in the cool days of fall and raise money for the Day by Day Warming Shelter.
The Day by Day Warming Shelter provides safe, temporary shelter, food and supportive services for adults experiencing homelessness in the Oshkosh community.
