The Oshkosh Civility Project will be the topic of the League of Women Voters of Winnebago County Food for Thought Lunch on Wed. May 8, 11:50 am, Primo Restaurant, 2605 Jackson St., Oshkosh. The program begins shortly after noon. The public is welcome, no reply needed.
Michael Rust and Sue Panek will introduce the Oshkosh Civility Project in our community from their beginnings, their guiding text, and how they continue to make a positive influence on Oshkosh. We will engage in an activity to help everyone think more deeply about the tenets of civility and their use in our lives.
Michael D. Rust, J.D. is the Executive Director of the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center, Inc. and President-Elect of the international Association for Conflict Resolution. Mr. Rust has performed more than a thousand mediations, trained hundreds of mediators, and spoken to thousands, including giving two TEDx talks. He is also Board President of the Oshkosh Area United Way, President-Elect of the Oshkosh Rotary Club, and Co-Organizer of TEDxOshkosh.
Sue Panek recently retired as President of the Oshkosh Area United Way. She has spent 40+ years working in nonprofit organizations including Girl Scout Councils in WI and NY. Active in a number of community projects, she has been part of the Civility project for more than 5 years.
