The Oshkosh Chamber Singers will present “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” on Saturday, December 16. An Oshkosh holiday tradition for more than 25 years, the singers will be accompanied by pipe organ, harp, brass, and cello, and will join with community readers to offer Scripture readings of the Christmas story and sing related choral selections.
The program includes favorites such as Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre, Carol of the Magi and Dormi, Jesu by John Rutter, Sussex Carol and In Dulci Jubilo by Matthew Culloton, My Lord Has Come by Will Todd, and Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light by Johann Sebastian Bach. Also included will be A Spotless Rose by Eleanor Daley, a piece which was commissioned by the Oshkosh Chamber Singers.
There are two performances: 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the historic Trinity Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Algoma and Division, Oshkosh (map and driving directions).
Conducted by music director Herb Berendsen, the singers will be accompanied by Marianne Chaudoir on Trinity Episcopal Church’s’ magnificent pipe organ and Nancy Kaphaem on cello.
Tickets are available in advance for $15 at Heid Music, 1750 W. South Park Ave., Oshkosh; Gardina’s Wine Bar & Café, 448 N. Main St., Oshkosh; or by calling Kelly at 920-312-8290. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20. Student tickets are $5.
