Oshkosh Chamber Singers Concert on Nov. 2 – Fond Affections: Musings on Love


“Fond Affections: Musings on Love” is the theme for the fall concert of the Oshkosh Chamber Singers set for 4 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, located at the intersection of 6th and Knapp (map).

Selections include folk songs such as American “What Wondrous Love is This,” “He’s Gone Away” and “Cindy,” Canadian “She’s Like the Swallow”, and Cornish “I Love My Love”; English madrigals; “Five Hebrew Love Songs,” by Eric Whitacre; “Love Lost: A Cycle of Four Satirical Poems on Love,” by Paul Sjolund; “When I Think Upon the Maidens,” by Michael Head, arranged by conductor Herb Berendsen; and “At Such a Dizzy Height,” by Joan Szymko with text by Marc Chagall and Bella Chagall, which will feature soloists and dancers.

Soloists include Eric Leih, Paula Steinert, Gail Goodacre, Todd Kaphaem, and Adam Minten.

Tickets are available in advance at Heid Music, 1750 W. South Park Ave., and Gardina’s Wine Bar & Cafe, 448 N. Main St., and at the door. Ticket prices: in advance: $15; at the door: $20; students: $5.
