Nutcracker in the Castle makes holidays magical

0

The holiday season is most magical at the Paine Art Center and Gardens’ Nutcracker in the Castle, which brings scenes of the Nutcracker fairy tale to life Nov. 22, 2019–Jan. 6, 2020.

Entering it’s 13th season, the beloved holiday story unfolds throughout ornately decorated rooms of the historic mansion, from the opening Party Scene with a giant Christmas tree to the Land of Sweets and the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy.

Venture through the fantasy experience with a Self-guided Tour, Candlelight Tour or Guided Tour, and enjoy more than 70 decorated Christmas trees along the way. Visitors can also be creative with holiday workshops, see a collection of authentic German nutcrackers and top off a visit with a delicious cupcake in the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Cupcake Café.

Free Kids Days at the Nutcracker

The opening weekend of the presentation features Free Kids Days at the Nutcracker, during which as many as five children receive free admission to Self-guided Tours with a paid adult admission. Verve, a Credit Union, will also provide free professional family photos in the Studio, located on the lower level of the mansion. Families are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots, which are placed under the giant Christmas tree as they begin their visit.

Free Kids Days are 4:30–7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21; 11 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Friday, November 22; and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday, November 23. Admission for adults is $14 and no reservation is necessary.

The Sugar Plum Fairy’s Cupcake Café will be open during Kids Free Days. The café is located in the Conservatory, and holiday lighting leads the way to the back of the property where it’s located.
