Missoula Children’s Theatre sets sail for performance at the Grand

Follow young Jim Hawkins and his friends as they sail a dangerous sea of adventure with Long John Silver and his pirate band at the helm Saturday, April 22 at 3:00 PM at The Grand Opera House when the Missoula Children’s Theatre and over 50 local students present an original musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s epic novel Treasure Island. Treasure Island is presented by Verve, a Credit Union.

Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Treasure Island will be held on Monday, April 17 at 4:00 PM. There are roles for those students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session, and the first rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. Because of the way the audition is conducted, latecomers will not be allowed to audition.

Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and makeup, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project.

Don’t miss out! Auditions take place Monday, April 17 at 4:00 PM at The Grand, 100 High Avenue, and the performance will take place Saturday, April 22 at 3:00 PM. Tickets for Treasure Island are available in advance and at the door. Call The Grand’s box office at 920.424.2350 or order tickets online at www.grandoperahouse.org.
