Library to host Listen & Learn sessions during Racket Fest Weekend

Three Saturday music sessions in the library dome will introduce listeners to the art of songwriting and the instruments behind the music.

The accordion, banjo and mbira are just a few of the instruments that will a part of the Oshkosh Public Library’s Listen & Learn session on Saturday, February 16, 2019, presented by the Ideal Team Real Estate professionals.  

The morning musical event will include three, family friendly 40-minute sessions offering an up-close look at song-writing, instrumentation, and performance.

The Copper Box duo of Danny and Michelle will be joined by ASUMAYA (Madison) and Nickel&Rose (Milwaukee) for the morning, which kicks off at 9:15am.  Here are the sets:

9:15am: ASUMAYA:  Luke Bassuener of ASUMAYA (Madison) will lead a creative  presentation of the mbira (thumb piano), bass guitar, drum pad and looping piano.

10am: Copper Box Duo:  Danny & Michelle Jerabek of Oshkosh’s favorite band Copper Box will perform and present the accordion, acoustic guitar, penny whistle, saxophone, flute and cornet.

11am: Nickel&Rose: The Milwaukee duo Nickel&Rose will be bringing their banjo, upright bass, and guitar for an intimate set of American roots.

Listen & Learn is a collaborative music education morning offered in partnership with the Oshkosh Independent, featuring Water City Racket Fest musicians.  The sessions are tailored to the budding musician, the established music lover, and everyone between who would appreciate an intimate, close up look at a diversity of instrumentation and the craft of songwriting.
