Spirits of the Grand, held October 25 through 28 , is a delightfully fun Halloween activity for the theatre lover. From the tour of the Grand Opera House to the goofy but slightly spooky characters that took the audience back in time with the history of The Grand, Spirits of the Grand is must-do of the Halloween season.
We visited Spirits on the Grand, put together by Hysterical Productions, on opening night. Historic characters, both real and imagined, were the tour guides of the haunting tour of The Grand. We traveled from lobby to auditorium to balcony to basement to dressing room, each with its own story.
My favorite tour guide was probably the ditzy research professor that started off our tour with a slight scare while making the audience chuckle non-stop. The strongest performance of the night was the ghost in the dressing room named Adelaide who played a few of Shakespeare’s leading ladies, reciting lines from the Bard’s plays beautifully.
My favorite part of the night was standing on The Grand’s stage looking out into the beautiful auditorium, with a little nostalgia of performing on stage. And my treat for this haunted historical adventure was a chocolate lover’s dream, The Grand Ghostini, which I highly recommend.
Spirits of the Grand runs nightly through October 28, with tours held at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 PM. Tickets are $25 and includes a free beverage. Note that only 24 people can go on the tour at a time, so you want to get there a bit early.
