DUSK to headline opening night of Racket Fest 2018

Appleton-based DUSK, just back from their west coast tour, will be headlining Friday’s opening night of the 2018 Water City Racket Fest at the Algoma Club in downtown Oshkosh.  DUSK joins the Haunted Heads and Auralai as the announced acts for the opening evening on February 23, 2018.

According to event organizers, DUSK is a must see event. “DUSK represents the things that make good music,” said promoter Justin Mitchell.  “Outstanding musicianship, a refined sound that is tight and well-conceived, and strong vocals with thick supporting harmonies…  of course, they also rock.”

DUSK successfully blends a 50s influenced rock n roll and a country roots feel with simple intriguing melodies and catchy guitar lines that at one moment catch you in awe of the beautiful song (see Leaf) while moments later find you tapping away if you were able to resist the urge to get up and dance (see Bored Recluse).

Music for the evening begins with Auralai playing in Manila Resto at 6pm, with the rock n roll staring upstairs in the Algoma Club at 7:30pm. Guests do not need a ticket to enter Manila Resto for Auralai. Tickets are required for entry to the Algoma Club, with the $6.00 ticket cost granting you access to music on both Friday and Saturday evening. Racket Fest ticket holders will also receive $1 off food purchases at Manila Resto for the weekend.

Water City Racket Fest will take place in downtown Oshkosh at 103 Algoma Blvd. on Friday and Saturday, February 23 and 24, 2018. The event will feature all original music from Wisconsin bands. Tickets for the full event are just $6.00. More information is available at www.oshkoshindependent.com/racket.

Water City Racket Fest is being promoted by The Oshkosh Independent. The Fifth Ward Brewing Company is the Festival Sponsor, and will have their craft beers available throughout the event.

Two great ways to get a listen to the DUSK:

First, tune into Oshkosh’s fabulous 101.9fm radio — local community-based radio covering important local stuff, from council meetings to local rock n roll. Racket Fest radio will be airing Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. The show is hosted by Oshkosh radio legend Anthony Montalvo (another UW grad), and features nearly 25 minutes of straight music paired with a small dose of band info. DUSK’s show will begin airing the week of November 20, 2017.

Second, take a look at DUSK’s “So Heavy” music video, shot by Wisconsin Public Radio:

Oshkosh’s Fifth Ward Brewing Co: Oshkosh’s newest craft brewery, located at 1009 South Main Street in Oshkosh’s south side, the Fifth Ward Brewing’s goal is to explore the boundaries of style and tradition, as an expression of they we are, where they’re from, their past experience, and their vision for the future. But mostly, they want to bring you the best possible beer.

DUSK joins AuralaiHaunted Heads, Redshift Headlights, RedHawks, and ASUMAYA as the announced bands for Racket Fest 2018.  Visit the Water City Racketfest Facebook Page for updates and to share with your pals.
