Day by Day open house and apple sauce

This Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the community is invited to visit the Day by Day Warming Shelter to see how the shelter works and to learn more about local homeless issues. The shelter is located at 449 High Avenue, Oshkosh.

The shelter relies heavily on volunteers to help provide and serve food, to assist with shelter tasks including laundry and check in, and others.  This is a great opportunity for individuals considering volunteering to see the shelter space and meet some of the shelter team members.

Day by Day opens its doors to guests on October 15 each year, and remains open through April 15.

Congrats to the Oakwood Elementary School students and families for their successful Fruit Cup and Applesauce challenge.  The school collected 4885 cups that were donated to the Day by Day Warming Shelter.  These cups are provided to shelter guests each morning to start their day off with a healthy breakfast.

There are still many items the shelter is in need of before this season kicks off, including items like garbage bags, disinfectant wipes, men’s and women’s deodorant, and more. For a full list, visit
