Community reading of ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama

The community is invited to a book reading and discussion of Michelle Obama’s Becoming this fall as part of Fit Oshkosh’s regular Color-Brave sessions.

Reading discussion dates are October 10, November 14, and December 12, 2019. These free sessions are open to the public, and will be held at the Fit Oshkosh office at 36 Broad Street from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Discussions will be led by Tracey Robertson. Light refreshments will be served.

Becoming is the memoir of former first lady Michelle Obama, published in 2018. Described by the author as a deeply personal experience, the book talks about her roots and how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother.

Becoming is available for purchase and through the Winnefox Library system. Limited copies are available on loan from the Fit Oshkosh office.

According to Fit Oshkosh, the Color-Brave Community Reads are a forum to discuss race and difference in all their complexities respectfully with the goal of identifying actionable steps that can be taken.
