Forum organized in the wake of a message encouraging student voting based upon race and sexual orientation.
Students at UW-Oshkosh will be facilitating a public forum Monday night (March 18, 2019) in Reeve Union Ballroom AB with the goal of creating a more inclusive and welcoming community on campus.
The forum, which will run from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., comes less than a week after a message on social media encouraged students to vote in the Oshkosh Student Association elections based upon race and sexual orientation.
According to the forum notice:
The open forum will further address the recent homophobic and racist incident during the OSA election. This may be just a single incident, but it has been institutionalized at our university for far too long. The forum will begin with organizers and attendees sharing their experiences with homophobia, racism, and other forms of discrimination on campus and in our community. We will be heard.
The forum will reportedly be streamed live on Facebook as well.
